Hazard struggling at Madrid
Joining Los Blancos as their latest marquee addition, the 30 year-old Belgian has managed just 5 goals and 9 assists in 53 appearances for the Spanish side, a poor return on the 103 million reportedly spent on him.He was left out entirely in
the most recent El Classico, despite being fully fit, with Real Madrid boss
Carlo Ancelotti admitting that he was out of favor with the Italian after
their narrow victory.
For Hazard, his stock has
never been lower.
Two clubs chase the Belgian’s signature in January
Due to this, it is not
inconceivable to see Eden Hazard make a return to the Premier League, where he
had great success with Chelsea, ahead of the 2022 World Cup.
As per ESPN journalist James
Olley, there are two clubs that would battle it out for his signature should he
become available. The first, perhaps unsurprisingly, is thought to be Chelsea,
who are missing creativity from wide areas due to the fitness problems faced by
Christian Pulisic and the form of Hakim Ziyech.
The other? Newly takeover Newcastle. It seems like a farfetched
move, given that the Magpies currently find themselves in the relegation zone,
but should the new owners wish to make a statement, a move for Eden Hazard
would certainly fit the bill.
Much would surely depend on
the calibre of manager at the club at the time, and the other business done,
but it is certainly one to watch out for.
Chelsea fans, would you want
Eden Hazard back at Stamford Bridge, and if so, would it be for anything other
than sentimental value?
